Zé Castro

Zé Castro (born Ricardo Jorge Gomes Castro on January 5, 1983) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a central defender.

Castro spent the majority of his career in Spain, representing Atlético Madrid, Deportivo de La Coruña, Rayo Vallecano and Cultural Leonesa. He also had a spell in his native Portugal with Académica de Coimbra.

During his career, Castro was known for his defensive solidity and tackling ability. He was a regular player for his clubs, amassing a significant number of appearances in both La Liga and the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He retired from professional football in 2018.
