Time UK (band)
Time UK was a British new wave band formed in 1981. The group was notable for featuring veteran musicians from a variety of established bands, aiming for a more commercial sound. The core members included Tony Chapelle (vocals, ex-The Flying Lizards), Neil Black (guitar, ex-Neil Black Band), Paul Jackson (bass, ex-Gentle Giant), and Laurie Wisefield (guitar, ex-Wishbone Ash).
Their music blended elements of pop, rock, and new wave, characterized by catchy melodies and prominent guitar work. Time UK released several singles, including "The Cabaret," which achieved some success in the UK charts. The band also released an eponymous debut album in 1982.
Despite the pedigree of its members and initial promise, Time UK failed to achieve widespread commercial success and disbanded in the mid-1980s. While their time together was relatively short-lived, they are remembered by fans of new wave and progressive rock for their unique sound and the combined talents of their members. Their recordings are available on compilation albums and reissues.
