Roy Radin

Roy Radin (1949 - May 1983) was an American theatrical promoter and film producer, primarily known for his involvement in the entertainment industry and his untimely death, which led to a high-profile murder case.

Radin made his start in show business as a teenage tour manager, traveling with musical acts. He later transitioned to producing and promoting theatrical productions, including revivals of classic plays. He gained a reputation for his flamboyant personality and lavish lifestyle.

In the early 1980s, Radin sought to break into the film industry. He partnered with individuals connected to organized crime to finance a film project, The Cotton Club. This partnership proved to be fatal.

In May 1983, Radin disappeared. His body was discovered in June of the same year in a remote desert area near Los Angeles. He had been murdered. The ensuing investigation revealed a complex web of relationships involving drug trafficking, money laundering, and rivalries within organized crime circles.

Several individuals were eventually charged and convicted in connection with Radin's murder, including Robert Evans associate Karen Greenberger (also known as Lanie Jacobs), who was found guilty of second-degree murder, and hitman William Mentzer. The murder trial garnered significant media attention due to the high-profile figures involved and the sensational nature of the crime, solidifying Radin's place in true crime history. The Cotton Club ultimately was released in 1984 but was considered a financial disappointment.
