Giovanni Ricci (American football)

Giovanni Ricci (born November 10, 1996) is an American football tight end for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Western Michigan University.

Early Life and High School:

Ricci attended and played football at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois.

College Career:

Ricci played college football at Western Michigan University from 2015 to 2019. While initially recruited as a running back, he transitioned to a tight end position. During his time at Western Michigan, he was primarily used as a blocking tight end but also contributed in the passing game. He played in 47 games and recorded 52 receptions for 558 yards and seven touchdowns.

Professional Career:

Ricci was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round (249th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has primarily been used as a fullback and H-back for the Panthers, contributing as a blocker and receiver out of the backfield. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Panthers in 2023.
