USS Nahant (SP-1250)
USS Nahant (SP-1250) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1917 to 1919.
Nahant was originally a private motor yacht of the same name, built in 1916 by the Matthews Boat Company at Port Clinton, Ohio, for Charles S. Eaton. In 1917, the U.S. Navy acquired Nahant from Eaton under a free lease for use as a section patrol boat during World War I. She was enrolled in the Naval Coast Defense Reserve and designated SP-1250.
Assigned to the 3rd Naval District, Nahant performed patrol duties in the New York City area for the duration of World War I. These duties likely included enforcing neutrality laws, guarding against sabotage, and possibly acting as a dispatch boat.
Following the end of World War I, Nahant was stricken from the Navy List on 10 January 1919. She was returned to her owner on 21 April 1919. Her subsequent fate is unknown.
