Tropical Storm Danas (2019)

Tropical Storm Danas (2019), known in the Philippines as Falcon, was a weak but expansive tropical cyclone that affected several countries in East Asia during July 2019. Originating as a tropical disturbance east of the Philippines, Danas gradually intensified into a tropical storm and was assigned the name Danas by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

Danas tracked generally northwestward, impacting the Philippines with heavy rainfall, which triggered flooding and landslides in some areas. Though the storm did not directly make landfall in the Philippines, its broad circulation brought significant rainfall to the country.

After passing the Philippines, Danas continued its northwestward trajectory, moving across the East China Sea. It brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of Taiwan, causing disruption to transportation and daily life.

Danas eventually made landfall on the Korean Peninsula, weakening as it interacted with land. The storm brought heavy rainfall and gusty winds to South Korea, leading to some flooding and minor damage. Its remnants continued to move northward into North Korea and eventually dissipated over northeastern China.

Despite being a relatively weak storm, Danas's large size and slow movement resulted in prolonged periods of heavy rainfall across a wide area, leading to localized flooding and disruption in multiple countries. There were no reports of significant loss of life directly attributed to Danas, although some minor injuries and property damage were reported. The primary impacts were related to flooding, travel delays, and agricultural losses.
