Governor of Sevastopol (Russia)
The Governor of Sevastopol is the highest official in the city of Sevastopol, a federal city of Russia located on the Crimean Peninsula. The Governor heads the executive branch of the city government.
Appointment and Powers
The Governor is appointed and dismissed by the President of Russia. Candidates for the position are nominated by the President, taking into account the opinion of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol.
The Governor is responsible for the overall administration and governance of Sevastopol. Their responsibilities include:
- Representing Sevastopol in its relations with federal bodies of state power, bodies of state power of other subjects of the Russian Federation, and bodies of local self-government.
- Signing and promulgating laws adopted by the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol.
- Forming the Government of Sevastopol and managing its activities.
- Overseeing the implementation of federal and regional laws.
- Submitting the annual budget of Sevastopol for approval by the Legislative Assembly.
- Ensuring law and order and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens within Sevastopol.
History
Following the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, the position of Governor of Sevastopol was established under Russian law. Prior to this, Sevastopol had a separate administration under Ukrainian law. The first Governor of Sevastopol under Russian administration was appointed in 2014.

As of October 26, 2023, the current Governor of Sevastopol is Mikhail Razvozhayev.
