Anders Daae (priest)

Anders Daae (born 1746, died 1816) was a Norwegian priest and topographer.

Daae served as a vicar in Vik i Sogn from 1773 to 1779, and later as a parish priest in Kinn from 1779 until his death in 1816.

He is known for his extensive topographic writings, particularly descriptions of the Sogn region. His work provided valuable insights into the geography, culture, and economic conditions of the area during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. While not formally published in his lifetime, many of his manuscripts were later compiled and edited, contributing significantly to the historical understanding of Western Norway. His detailed observations on local customs, traditions, and natural resources are considered important primary sources. He was also interested in local history and genealogy.

Daae was the father of Iver Munthe Daae and grandfather of Ludvig Daae and Suzannah Ibsen (née Thoresen).
