Rudy May

Rudy May (born August 18, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas) is a former left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1965 to 1983. He pitched for the California Angels (1965-1966), Philadelphia Phillies (1970-1971), New York Yankees (1974-1976, 1980-1982), Baltimore Orioles (1977), Montreal Expos (1978-1979), and Atlanta Braves (1983).

May was known for his crafty pitching style and ability to generate ground balls. Although he never reached true "ace" status, he was a valuable and durable member of several pitching staffs, particularly during his stints with the Yankees. He often served as a dependable middle reliever or spot starter.

A key highlight of May's career was his contribution to the New York Yankees' World Series championship teams in 1977 and 1978. He was an effective part of their bullpen during that era. Over the course of his career, he compiled a record of 152-105 with a 3.46 ERA in 572 games.
