Henry Alexander (1787–1861)
Henry Alexander (1787-1861) was an American politician, lawyer, and judge. He served as a United States Representative from New York's 20th congressional district from 1841 to 1843 as a Democrat.
Born in Little Britain, Orange County, New York, Alexander received a classical education and studied law. He was admitted to the bar and began practicing in Little Britain.
Alexander held several local and state offices before his election to Congress. He served as a member of the New York State Assembly and as a Judge of the Orange County Court. In Congress, he served on the Committee on Revolutionary Claims.
After his term in Congress, Alexander resumed his law practice in Orange County. He continued to be active in local politics and community affairs until his death in 1861. He is interred in Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery, New York.
