UFC 282

UFC 282 was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that took place on December 10, 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was originally expected to be headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between then-champion Jiří Procházka and former champion Glover Teixeira. However, Procházka was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a severe shoulder injury and subsequently vacated the title.

The co-main event was initially slated to be a UFC Lightweight Championship bout between then-champion Islam Makhachev and former champion Alexander Volkanovski. However, with the vacancy of the Light Heavyweight Championship, the UFC re-arranged the card. Jan Błachowicz faced Magomed Ankalaev for the vacant title in the new main event. The Makhachev vs. Volkanovski fight was then rescheduled for UFC 284.

The eventual main event between Błachowicz and Ankalaev ended in a split draw. The result was highly controversial, with many observers believing that Ankalaev had clearly won the fight. As a result of the draw, the Light Heavyweight Championship remained vacant.

The co-main event featured Paddy Pimblett against Jared Gordon. Pimblett won by unanimous decision, but the decision was also controversial, with a significant portion of viewers and media outlets believing that Gordon won the fight.

Other notable fights on the card included Santiago Ponzinibbio defeating Alex Morono by TKO and Dricus du Plessis defeating Darren Till by submission.
