Amiot 354

The Amiot 354 was a French twin-engine, medium bomber developed and manufactured by Société Générale Aéronautique (SGA), also known as Amiot. It was a monoplane design with a retractable landing gear and was intended to replace earlier French bombers like the Bloch MB.210. The Amiot 354 entered service with the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) shortly before the outbreak of World War II.

The aircraft was designed to meet the requirements of the 1934 specifications for a modern medium bomber. It was a development of the earlier Amiot 340, incorporating improvements to the airframe and engines. While considered relatively advanced for its time, the Amiot 354 suffered from issues related to underpowered engines and defensive armament that was considered inadequate against modern fighters.

Several variants were produced, differing primarily in engine type. The Amiot 354 saw limited combat service during the Battle of France in 1940. Following the Armistice, some examples continued to be used by the Vichy French Air Force, while others were captured and utilized by the Luftwaffe for training purposes. The type was ultimately withdrawn from service relatively early in the war.
