Phú Xuân
Phú Xuân was the historical name for the city of Huế, Vietnam, during the Nguyễn dynasty, particularly from 1687 to 1945. It served as the capital of the Nguyễn lords (1687-1775), the Tây Sơn dynasty (1786-1802) briefly, and the Nguyễn dynasty emperors (1802-1945). The name Phú Xuân reflects the rich and prosperous era that the city experienced, becoming a significant political, cultural, and economic center of Vietnam. After the Nguyễn dynasty moved the capital to Hanoi in 1945, the name Phú Xuân gradually faded from common usage, and the city became predominantly known as Huế. The name still occasionally appears in historical contexts or poetic references related to the Nguyễn dynasty period. Phú Xuân's legacy is preserved in the numerous imperial palaces, temples, and tombs that remain in Huế today, reflecting its past glory as the imperial capital.
