Proud Mary (band)

Proud Mary are an English rock band, formed in Oldham, Greater Manchester, in 1999. The band's name is taken from the Creedence Clearwater Revival song of the same name.

The band was formed by Greg Griffin (vocals/guitar) and Paul Newsome (guitar). They were later joined by Steve Jackson (bass) and Andy Price (drums). They were notably discovered and championed by Noel Gallagher of Oasis, who signed them to his Sour Mash Records label.

Proud Mary's music is often described as classic rock with influences ranging from The Rolling Stones and The Faces to Neil Young and The Black Crowes. They have released several studio albums, including "The Same Old Blues" (2001), "Love and Light" (2005), "Northwest One" (2006), and "Ocean Park" (2016). They have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, supporting acts such as Oasis and Stereophonics.

While they achieved moderate success and a dedicated following, they are perhaps best known for their early association with Noel Gallagher and their classic rock sound.
