Carlos Fernandes (footballer, born 1979)

Carlos Fernandes, born December 8, 1979, is a Portuguese-Angolan former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.

Fernandes began his professional career in Portugal, playing for clubs such as Campomaiorense, Felgueiras, and Boavista. He also had a stint in Iran with Sepahan.

He is best known for his international career with Angola. Fernandes represented Angola at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, where he was the starting goalkeeper. He also participated in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, including the 2008, 2010, and 2012 editions.

While he played for various clubs throughout his career, his consistent presence in the Angolan national team cemented his reputation. He retired from professional football in the later years of the 2010s.
