Karl Wach

Karl Wach (1787-1845) was a German painter. He was a prominent figure in the Düsseldorf school of painting, known for his historical and religious paintings, as well as portraits.

Born in Berlin, Wach studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts. He later traveled to Italy, where he was influenced by the Renaissance masters. Upon his return to Germany, he became a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy.

Wach's style is characterized by its academic precision and attention to detail. He often depicted scenes from the Bible and classical history, as well as portraits of prominent individuals. He was highly regarded for his ability to capture the likenesses of his subjects and for the dramatic composition of his historical scenes.
