Audi 50
The Audi 50 was a supermini car produced by Audi from 1974 to 1978. It was essentially a rebadged and slightly more luxurious version of the Volkswagen Polo, which was launched shortly after the Audi 50. The car was initially available with a 1.1-liter engine, later followed by a 1.3-liter version.
The Audi 50 was designed as a modern, economical car for urban environments. It featured a hatchback body style and front-wheel drive, which were relatively new concepts for smaller cars at the time. The interior was considered relatively spacious for its class.
Despite its positive reception and technological advancements, the Audi 50 was ultimately discontinued in 1978. Volkswagen decided to focus on the Polo, which was positioned as a more affordable alternative. The Audi 50 is now considered a classic car and a historically significant model for Audi, as it paved the way for the company's entry into the supermini segment.
