Satana (Marvel Comics)
Satana Hellstrom, also known as Satana, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Roy Thomas and John Romita Sr., she first appeared in Vampire Tales #3 (October 1973).
Satana is the daughter of the demon Marduk Kurios and a mortal woman named Christina. Genetically, she possesses demonic powers derived from her father's lineage. Her brother is Daimon Hellstrom, also known as Hellstorm and Son of Satan. Unlike Daimon, who initially attempts to use his powers for good, Satana is generally depicted as a more malevolent and morally ambiguous character.
Her powers typically include sorcery, manipulation of souls, manipulation of hellfire, limited telepathy, and superhuman strength, stamina, and agility. She often consumes souls to maintain her powers and youth. Over the years, Satana's portrayal has shifted from a villainous character to a more complex figure, sometimes even acting as an anti-hero.
Satana has been featured in various Marvel Comics titles, often involving supernatural themes, including Ghost Rider, Hellstorm: Prince of Lies, and several limited series focusing on her own adventures. She frequently interacts with other supernatural Marvel characters, such as Doctor Strange, Blade, and Jennifer Kale. Her motivations are often self-serving, but she has occasionally been known to aid humanity against greater demonic threats.
