Gayngs

Gayngs was an American experimental pop music collective based primarily in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was conceived in 2008 by Ryan Olson (also known for his work with Poliça, Marijuana Deathsquads, and other Minneapolis-based bands) as a supergroup-style project featuring a large and rotating cast of musicians.

The band's sound is characterized by its lush, heavily layered arrangements, incorporating elements of 1980s soft rock, R&B, and electronic music. Their aesthetic also often leaned toward a retro, somewhat ironic presentation.

Gayngs released one studio album, Relayted, in 2010 to critical acclaim. The album is notable for its slow tempo, atmospheric soundscapes, and the collective's use of vocoders and Auto-Tune. Relayted primarily consisted of original compositions alongside a notable cover of George Michael's "One More Try."

Following the release of Relayted, Gayngs toured and performed at various festivals. The project's future activity remains uncertain, as many of its members have continued to focus on their individual careers. While no official announcement has been made regarding disbandment, no new material or performances have been released or announced in a considerable period.
