Drake Hotel (New York City)

The Drake Hotel was a luxury hotel located at 440 Park Avenue and 56th Street in New York City. Opened in 1926, it was known for its opulent interiors, celebrity clientele, and the Drake Room, a popular supper club and restaurant. The hotel boasted several hundred rooms and suites, catering to both long-term residents and transient guests.

Over the years, the Drake Hotel attracted notable figures from the worlds of entertainment, business, and politics. Its prime location in Midtown Manhattan, near upscale shopping and cultural attractions, contributed to its prestige.

In 2006, the Drake Hotel was acquired by developer Harry Macklowe. It was subsequently demolished in 2007 to make way for a new luxury condominium tower known as 432 Park Avenue, which is currently one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. As such, the Drake Hotel no longer exists. Its legacy primarily remains in historical accounts and photographs.
