Janus (musical project)

Janus was an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 2005. The band's sound incorporated elements of alternative rock, hard rock, and post-grunge. They were signed to REALID Records.

History:

Janus was initially formed by vocalist Wade James Martin, guitarist Dustin Doering, and drummer Terry Bennett. The lineup later solidified with the addition of bassist Mike Tyranski and rhythm guitarist Alan Quitman. Their initial recordings gained traction online, leading to a record deal with REALID Records.

The band released their debut album, "Red Right Return," in 2009. The album spawned several singles that received radio airplay, including "Eyesore" and "Stains." Janus toured extensively in support of the album, opening for established rock acts.

In 2011, Janus released their second album, "Nox Aeris." While the album maintained the band's core sound, it also explored darker and more experimental sonic territories. The album's release was followed by further touring.

Musical Style and Influences:

Janus's music is characterized by its blend of melodic vocals, heavy guitar riffs, and driving rhythms. Critics noted similarities to bands such as Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace. The band cited influences ranging from classic rock acts like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to contemporary alternative rock bands.
