Nasirabad (Hunza)

Nasirabad is a village located in the Hunza Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is situated in the Upper Hunza region, also known as Gojal Valley. Nasirabad is known for its scenic beauty, traditional Hunza culture, and proximity to various trekking routes and tourist attractions in the area.

The village is primarily inhabited by the Wakhi people, who have their own distinct language and culture. Agriculture is a major source of livelihood for the residents, with the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, and grains being common. Apricots, apples, and walnuts are particularly important crops.

Tourism plays an increasingly significant role in the local economy. Nasirabad serves as a base for exploring nearby attractions such as Attabad Lake, Passu Cones, and the Khunjerab Pass (the border between Pakistan and China). The village also offers opportunities for hiking and trekking in the surrounding mountains.

Nasirabad, like other parts of Hunza, has a relatively high literacy rate compared to other regions of Pakistan. Aga Khan Education Services plays a crucial role in providing educational opportunities.

The village is accessible via the Karakoram Highway (N-35), which is the main road traversing the Hunza Valley. Due to its location, Nasirabad is often impacted by road closures and landslides, especially during the winter months.
