Direct Hits (The Who album)

Direct Hits is a compilation album by the British rock band The Who, released in 1968. It primarily features singles released by the band between 1965 and 1968, along with a few B-sides. The album served as a readily available collection of The Who's early hits for fans, particularly those who may not have been able to acquire the individual singles.

The track listing often varied depending on the region of release. The UK version, for instance, differed from the North American version. Some notable tracks included "I Can't Explain," "My Generation," "Substitute," "Happy Jack," and "Pictures of Lily."

While Direct Hits was a commercial success and provided an introduction to The Who's early work for many listeners, it has since been largely superseded by more comprehensive and remastered compilation albums and studio album re-releases. Its significance lies primarily in its historical context as one of the early attempts to package and present The Who's singles output. It is not generally considered one of the band's core studio albums.
