Stop, Look & Listen (Patsy Cline album)
Stop, Look & Listen is the first studio album by American country music singer Patsy Cline, released in 1956 on the Four Star Records label. It was Cline's only album released during her initial contract with Four Star. The album comprised primarily country and country pop material, reflective of the sounds popular at the time.
The songs on Stop, Look & Listen were selected and recorded over a period of several years, starting in 1955. Despite Cline's burgeoning talent, the album did not achieve significant commercial success upon its initial release, failing to chart. This was partly due to the constraints placed on her by Four Star Records, which limited her creative control and confined her to material deemed commercially viable by the label.
The album's tracks include the title track, "Stop, Look and Listen," as well as other songs such as "A Poor Man's Roses (Or a Rich Man's Gold)" and "I Don't Wanta." These recordings showcase Cline's early vocal style, which evolved significantly in subsequent years. The album serves as an early representation of her career before her breakthrough success with songs like "I Fall to Pieces" and "Crazy" on Decca Records. While not a major commercial success, Stop, Look & Listen remains a historical artifact documenting the beginning of Patsy Cline's recording career.
