10th Dáil

The 10th Dáil was the lower house of the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) which sat from 14 June 1938 to 26 May 1943. It was elected at the 1938 general election, held on 17 June 1938.

Éamon de Valera's Fianna Fáil party retained power, forming a government, initially a single-party government and later a coalition with the Labour Party. The Ceann Comhairle (speaker) was Frank Fahy.

Key events during the 10th Dáil's term included Ireland's neutrality during World War II (referred to domestically as "The Emergency") and the associated economic challenges of shortages and rationing. The 10th Dáil also saw the continued implementation of the 1937 Constitution of Ireland.

The main political parties represented in the 10th Dáil were Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Labour Party, Clann na Talmhan, and various independent TDs. The Dáil was dissolved by President Douglas Hyde on 26 May 1943. The subsequent general election was held in June 1943.
