Seward Park (Manhattan)

Seward Park is a public park located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Bounded by Essex Street to the west, East Broadway to the north, Jefferson Street to the east, and Hester Street to the south, it is one of the city's oldest parks, having been established in 1903.

The park's creation was part of a larger reform movement aimed at providing green spaces and recreational opportunities for the densely populated and largely immigrant communities of the Lower East Side. Prior to its establishment as a park, the area was a heavily congested and unsanitary neighborhood.

Seward Park offers a variety of recreational facilities, including a playground, a gymnasium, a basketball court, a handball court, and a senior center. It also features a lawn, walking paths, and sitting areas.
