L'Aurore (1909–1941)

L'Aurore was a French daily newspaper published from 1909 to 1941. It was a socialist-leaning publication known for its coverage of political and social issues.

The paper succeeded an earlier publication of the same name that was famous for publishing Émile Zola's "J'Accuse...!" in 1898, a powerful open letter accusing high-ranking French officials of covering up the Dreyfus Affair. The later L'Aurore, while sharing the name and inheriting some of the previous publication's legacy of social justice, had a distinct editorial direction and ownership.

During its existence, L'Aurore covered significant events of the period, including World War I, the interwar years, and the rise of fascism in Europe. Its political stance placed it within the left-wing spectrum of French political thought. The newspaper ceased publication in 1941 during the German occupation of France in World War II, likely due to its political leanings being incompatible with the occupying forces.
