Cortese

Cortese is a white Italian wine grape variety most notably associated with the Gavi DOCG region in southeastern Piedmont. It is also grown in other areas of Piedmont, as well as Lombardy and Veneto.

Outside of Gavi, Cortese is used to produce other dry white wines, often labeled with the Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato DOC. While not as renowned as Gavi, these wines can offer a good value alternative. The grape may also be used in blended wines.
