Lac Cornu

Lac Cornu (literally "Horned Lake" in French) is a small alpine lake located in the Aiguilles Rouges massif, near Chamonix, in the Haute-Savoie department of France. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 2276 meters (7467 feet).

The lake is a popular destination for hikers and offers stunning views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks. It is accessible via several hiking trails from different starting points in the Chamonix valley, including trails from Argentière and from the Flégère gondola station. The hike to Lac Cornu is generally considered moderate in difficulty, although some sections may be steep.

The lake itself is relatively small and often retains snow cover well into the summer months. Its clear waters reflect the surrounding mountains, creating picturesque scenery. There are no facilities directly at the lake, so visitors should come prepared with food, water, and appropriate clothing.

Lac Cornu is part of a broader network of hiking trails in the Aiguilles Rouges, allowing for longer treks and explorations of the area. It's a popular spot for picnics and enjoying the alpine environment.
