Cleaning Up (British TV series)

Cleaning Up is a British television drama series created by Mark Marlow, starring Sheridan Smith. It premiered on ITV in January 2019. The series follows Sam, a struggling working-class mother working as a cleaner on a zero-hours contract, who becomes embroiled in the world of insider trading after overhearing sensitive financial information while cleaning an office.

Sam is portrayed as a gambling addict battling to keep her life and family together. Her co-worker Jess is also pulled into the schemes that Sam initiates. The series explores themes of poverty, addiction, and the allure of easy money, as well as the consequences of criminal activity.

The first and only series comprises six episodes. While initially conceived as a standalone series, its popularity led to discussions regarding potential future series, though none have materialized as of 2024. The series received generally positive reviews, with critics praising Smith's performance and the show's exploration of social issues.
