Tommy Murray (ice hockey)
Tommy Murray (born October 2, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for parts of nine seasons, primarily known for his time with the Boston Bruins.
Playing Career
Murray played major junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round (138th overall) of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He spent several seasons developing in the Bruins' minor league system before making his NHL debut.
Murray established himself as a reliable and consistent player in the NHL. While not a high-scoring player, he was valued for his defensive prowess, physicality, and penalty-killing abilities. His career spanned multiple teams, though he is most strongly associated with the Bruins.
He also played for the Detroit Red Wings, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Florida Panthers before retiring.
