Peeress (horse)
Peeress was a British Thoroughbred racehorse foaled in 1906. She was bred and owned by Leopold de Rothschild. Peeress is best known for winning the 1000 Guineas Stakes at Newmarket in 1909. She was sired by Persimmon, a prominent stallion who won the Epsom Derby, St. Leger Stakes, and Ascot Gold Cup. Her dam was Countess Lilian.
Racing Career
Peeress's racing career was relatively short but successful. Her victory in the 1000 Guineas was a significant achievement. While she competed in other notable races, including the Epsom Oaks, she did not achieve the same level of success as in the 1000 Guineas.
Breeding Career
After her racing career, Peeress was retired to stud. She produced several foals, though none achieved the same level of racing success as she did.
