James Hall (Canadian politician)

James Hall (1812-1881) was a Canadian businessman and politician from Sherbrooke, Quebec. He served as a member of the Legislative Council of Quebec from 1867 to 1881.

Hall was born in England and immigrated to Lower Canada. He established a successful business in Sherbrooke as a general merchant and also invested in land and property. He was actively involved in the local community, serving on the town council and as a justice of the peace.

In 1867, Hall was appointed to the Legislative Council of Quebec, representing the Eastern Townships division. He was a Conservative in his political leanings and supported the policies of the Conservative government of the day. Hall remained a member of the Legislative Council until his death in 1881. He was considered a respected and influential figure in the Eastern Townships.
