John Buchanan (footballer, born 1951)
John Buchanan (born 25 October 1951) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a defender.
Buchanan began his career with Dundee United, joining them as a youngster and progressing through their youth system. He made his senior debut for the club in the early 1970s and went on to become a regular in the first team. He was known for his strong tackling and no-nonsense approach to defending.
During his time at Dundee United, Buchanan featured in several major finals, including the Scottish League Cup final. He was a part of the Dundee United squad that enjoyed success under manager Jim McLean, establishing themselves as a major force in Scottish football.
