Mo Foster
Mo Foster (1944 – 2023) was a British session musician, composer, and author, primarily known for his work as a bass guitarist. He was a prominent figure in the UK session scene from the 1970s onwards, contributing to numerous albums and performances across a wide range of genres, including rock, pop, jazz, and classical music.
Foster played bass on recordings by artists such as Jeff Beck, Phil Collins, Gerry Rafferty, Joan Armatrading, Michael Schenker, and Cliff Richard. He also worked with prominent producers including Tony Visconti and Mike Batt. His distinctive bass playing style, often characterized by melodic lines and a solid rhythmic foundation, made him a highly sought-after session player.
Beyond his session work, Foster released several solo albums showcasing his compositions and bass playing. These albums often featured a fusion of jazz, rock, and funk influences.
