Ma Xiyin
Ma Xiyin (馬希隱) (899 – 947), formally Prince Gongsu of Chu (楚恭肅王), was a warlord of the late Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He was a son of Ma Yin, the founder of the Chu kingdom, and succeeded his brother Ma Xifan as ruler of Chu in 947. However, his reign was brief.
Ma Xiyin's ascension to power was marked by internal strife and challenges to his authority. He was not favored by his father, Ma Yin, and lacked significant military accomplishments prior to becoming ruler. He faced competition from other brothers, particularly Ma Xiguang, who commanded a considerable military force.
Shortly after taking control, Ma Xiyin was overthrown and killed by his brother, Ma Xiguang. This internal power struggle further destabilized the Chu kingdom, contributing to its eventual decline and conquest by the Southern Tang. His reign represents a period of fragmentation and internal conflict within the Chu kingdom following the death of its founder. His posthumous name was Prince Gongsu of Chu.
