Florian Laskary of Kościelec (bishop of Płock)
Florian Laskary of Kościelec (c. 1300 – 1382) was a Polish Roman Catholic prelate who served as the Bishop of Płock from 1363 until his death. He was a member of the powerful Laskary family, originating from Kościelec.
His episcopate was marked by efforts to improve the administration and finances of the Diocese of Płock, including the reconstruction and fortification of the Płock Cathedral after its destruction in a fire. He also focused on promoting religious life and education within his diocese.
His relationship with the Dukes of Mazovia was complex, sometimes involving disputes over church lands and privileges. Florian Laskary played a role in regional politics during his time, navigating the complexities of the late medieval Polish landscape.
He died in 1382 and was succeeded as Bishop of Płock by Henryk of Dobrzyn. His legacy includes his contributions to the architectural and spiritual well-being of the Diocese of Płock during a turbulent period.
