Heartbreaker (G-Dragon album)
Heartbreaker is the debut studio album by South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter G-Dragon, leader of the K-pop group Big Bang. It was released on August 18, 2009, by YG Entertainment. The album marked G-Dragon's official solo debut and was a significant commercial success in South Korea, becoming one of the best-selling albums of that year.
The album's title track, "Heartbreaker," was controversial upon release, with allegations of plagiarism claiming similarities to Flo Rida's "Right Round." YG Entertainment denied these accusations and defended G-Dragon's originality.
Heartbreaker features a blend of electronic, hip-hop, and pop music styles. G-Dragon actively participated in the songwriting and production of the album, showcasing his musical talent and establishing his identity as a solo artist. Several other songs from the album, including "Breathe," "She's Gone" (featuring Kush), and "Butterfly," also achieved popularity.
The album's success solidified G-Dragon's position as a prominent figure in the Korean music industry and contributed to his reputation as a fashion icon and trendsetter. He won several awards for Heartbreaker, including the Mnet Asian Music Award for Album of the Year in 2009.
