Arab Shah

Arab Shah was the Khan of Khwarazm (also known as Khiva) intermittently from 1602 to 1623. He was a descendant of the Shibani dynasty, specifically of Yadigar Khan. His reign was marked by internal conflicts and struggles for power within the Khanate.

Arab Shah's rise to power came amidst a period of instability following the collapse of the Shaybanid dynasty in Bukhara. He was not the sole claimant to the Khwarazmian throne, and faced challenges from other members of the dynasty and rival factions within the region. His reign was characterized by periods of rule and periods of being overthrown, indicating the turbulent political landscape.

One significant aspect of Arab Shah’s reign was the continuation of Uzbek traditions and administration in Khwarazm. Despite the challenges he faced, he sought to maintain a degree of stability and order. However, the constant internal strife weakened the Khanate and left it vulnerable to external threats and influence.

After several shifts in power and periods of exile, Arab Shah was eventually deposed. His death marked a continuation of the instability in Khwarazm that persisted for several decades, as various factions and dynasties vied for control of the region. He is primarily remembered as a figurehead during a particularly tumultuous period in Khwarazmian history.
