HD 88522

HD 88522 is a star located in the constellation Hydra. Catalogued in the Henry Draper Catalogue, it is a G-type main-sequence star (spectral type G0) with an apparent visual magnitude of approximately 8.7. Based on parallax measurements, the star is estimated to be located about 176 light-years (54 parsecs) away from the Solar System. In 2010, the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting HD 88522, designated HD 88522 b, was announced. The planet is a gas giant with a minimum mass significantly greater than Jupiter's, orbiting the star with a period of around 217 days.
