Raimond (crater)

Raimond is a small lunar impact crater that lies in the northern part of the Mare Tranquillitatis. It is located to the northwest of the crater Arago and west of the Apollo 11 landing site.

This is a relatively unremarkable, bowl-shaped crater with a simple, raised rim and a dark interior. Due to its small size, Raimond lacks a central peak or notable features within its interior floor. It is likely a relatively young crater, as its features are crisp and show little sign of erosion.

Raimond is a designated IAU (International Astronomical Union) crater, and its coordinates are approximately 7.4° N, 25.6° E. Its diameter is roughly 17 kilometers.

The crater's name is believed to be derived from a male given name of European origin, though no specific individual has been definitively identified as the namesake by the IAU. It is not uncommon for smaller lunar craters to be named after common given names.
