Cal Alley
Cal Alley was an American editorial cartoonist best known for his syndicated cartoon strip, The Ryatts, which ran from 1955 to 1979. Alley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1915 and died in 1979.
Before creating The Ryatts, Alley worked as a political cartoonist for the Memphis Commercial Appeal for many years, winning several awards for his work. His political cartoons often focused on local and national issues, presented with a sharp wit and a keen eye for detail.
The Ryatts, syndicated by the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate, depicted the everyday life of a typical American family.
