Bill McDonald (basketball)

William "Bill" McDonald (born c. 1951) is a former American college basketball player and coach. He is best known for his collegiate career at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and his subsequent coaching career.

McDonald played forward for the Weber State Wildcats from 1970 to 1973 under head coach Dick Motta. He was a key contributor to a successful era for the program, culminating in an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1973. He was known for his rebounding and defensive abilities.

After his playing career, McDonald transitioned into coaching. He held assistant coaching positions at several universities before becoming the head coach at Southern Utah University from 1986 to 1991. While at Southern Utah, he attempted to elevate the program within the landscape of college basketball.

Following his stint at Southern Utah, McDonald continued to work in basketball, often involved in player development and youth programs. He remains a figure connected to the Weber State basketball community.
