Nick Owen
Nick Owen (born Nicholas David Owen on November 1, 1947) is a British television presenter and newsreader. He is best known for his long association with ITV Central (formerly ATV and Central Television) in the Midlands region of England.
Owen began his career in print journalism, working for local newspapers before moving into television. He joined ATV in 1973 and quickly became a familiar face on regional news programmes. He co-presented Central News with Anne Diamond for many years, forming a popular and enduring on-screen partnership.
Beyond regional news, Owen has presented numerous national television programmes, including TV-am (where he again partnered with Anne Diamond), Good Morning with Anne and Nick, and BBC Breakfast News. He has also hosted a variety of other shows, covering topics ranging from consumer affairs to sports.
In recent years, Owen has continued to work in television, primarily with BBC Midlands Today. He announced his departure from the programme in December 2023, after 26 years. He has also been involved in charity work and served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire.
