Protivín

Protivín is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is located approximately 22 kilometers (14 miles) northwest of České Budějovice, on the Blanice River.

History: Protivín was first mentioned in written records in 1282. The town's history is closely linked to the Schwarzenberg family, who owned the local castle from the 17th century until 1948. The castle, originally a Gothic fortress, was rebuilt in the Baroque style.
