Gelsenkirchen (electoral district)

The Gelsenkirchen electoral district (German: Wahlkreis Gelsenkirchen) is a German Bundestag electoral district located in North Rhine-Westphalia. It covers the entirety of the city of Gelsenkirchen.

The district has been represented in the Bundestag by various members of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) since its creation in 1949. Due to the strong industrial history and working-class population of Gelsenkirchen, the SPD has consistently held a significant majority in this electoral district. Direct election results have historically favored SPD candidates.
