Mark Wood (violinist)

Mark Wood is an American violinist, composer, and educator known for his unique approach to electric violin performance and his advocacy for music education. He is considered a pioneer in the field of rock violin, pushing the boundaries of the instrument through heavy distortion, effects pedals, and unconventional playing techniques.

Wood is the founder of Mark Wood Music Productions and Electrify Your Strings (EYS), a music education program that aims to transform school music programs by providing innovative curriculum and performance opportunities. EYS culminates in large-scale concerts featuring student orchestras performing alongside Wood and his band.

He designed the Viper electric violin, a custom-built instrument often characterized by its aggressive sound and ergonomic design, allowing for greater freedom of movement on stage. Wood holds numerous patents for his violin designs and related technologies.
