Lisa Marx
Lisa Marx is a fictional character and the protagonist of the novel Lila by Robert Pirsig, published in 1991. She is a young, uneducated woman who challenges the protagonist, Phaedrus, to re-evaluate his understanding of Quality and traditional intellectual frameworks. Lila represents a more primitive and immediate level of value compared to Phaedrus's highly intellectualized perspective. The novel explores the tension and eventual understanding between Phaedrus's static intellectual values and Lila's more dynamic and immediate sensory experiences. Her character serves as a catalyst for Phaedrus's continued exploration of the Metaphysics of Quality.
