Santa Catalina Island (Colombia)

Santa Catalina Island, also known as Isla de Santa Catalina, is a small island located off the Caribbean coast of Colombia, administratively part of the department of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. It is connected to the larger island of Providencia by a 120-meter (390 ft) long pedestrian bridge called "Lover's Bridge" or "Bridge of Lovers."

Santa Catalina Island is significantly smaller and less populated than Providencia. It is characterized by its rugged, volcanic terrain, lush vegetation, and clear turquoise waters, offering opportunities for snorkeling and diving. The island’s historical significance stems from its role in past colonial conflicts and pirate activity. Fort Warwick, a historical fort on the island, is a notable landmark. The local culture and lifestyle of Santa Catalina are closely intertwined with those of Providencia, reflecting a blend of Afro-Caribbean and Colombian influences. Tourism, although present, is less developed than on Providencia, preserving a more tranquil and authentic island experience.
