Jack Whiting (actor)

Jack Whiting (June 22, 1892 – February 11, 1969) was an American actor, singer, and dancer best known for his performances in musical comedies and revues, both on Broadway and in London's West End.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Whiting began his career in vaudeville with his family. He transitioned to musical theatre, gaining recognition for his energetic stage presence and strong tenor voice. He starred in numerous Broadway productions throughout the 1920s and 1930s, including several editions of Florenz Ziegfeld's Follies.

Whiting achieved considerable success in London, where he appeared in popular West End shows such as The Girl from Utah and Follow a Star. He also worked in early film, appearing in both Hollywood and British productions. Although his film career never reached the same heights as his stage career, he had roles in musicals and comedies.

His stage performances were particularly lauded for their comedic timing and athletic dance routines.
